Welcome to the D2C™ Chronicles, your episodic journey through the online lending marketplace. Follow our hero, Len Barrow, as he navigates the newfound lending landscape. D2C Chronicles™Episode I: The Check's in the MailIt didn't take a CPA to know that payroll was going to be a problem. I thought I'd done everything right in starting my business, Barrow Builders, Inc., but the skyrocketing gas prices have really done a number on my bottom line. (Hey, you try driving around a full-ton Chevy extended cab full of concrete everywhere, see what kind of mileage you get!) So despite my best efforts, I knew barring a bump in business (like people paying me on time), I was only a month or so away from telling my crew their checks were "in the mail." I wasn't going to let that happen. But I needed money fast. "Have you heard about GlobeFunder™, Len?" my friend Alyssa asked me. "No, what's that all about?" I replied. She was a lot savvier about the Internet than I was, after all. "You go to GlobeFunder.com, and you can get a small-business or other loans, cheaper than you can at a bank, and it's a lot cheaper than using your credit cards. It's really easy." It sounded pretty good, but my mama didn't raise Len Barrow to be anybody's fool. "Sure you can. Cheaper than a bank, huh? Riiight. How'd they do that?" "Well, they've taken out all those high-priced Wall Street middlemen, that's how," Alyssa said matter-of-factly. "It's called Direct-to-Consumer™ lending. See, those guys aren't taking their cut of your loan, so you get better rates. And it's all online, you don't even need to leave your office." Of course, my "office" was that ton of steel on wheels in the driveway, but I knew what she meant. So I powered up my MacBook, typed in GlobeFunder.com, and worked my way over to its sister site, PointClickLoan.com. Alyssa, you weren't lyin'. PointClickLoan.com was the easiest thing I'd ever used online, and made getting a loan a painless piece of cake. It's got a cool, "storefront" style of setup, and I just clicked on the loan "box" I wanted, filled in my information where it told me to, and boom! I had my loan, and my crew had their paychecks.
